What Kedai Ku is — and is not
Kedai Ku is a place for students to find each other: one student offers food or an errand, another orders it. That is all it does. We are not a party to any sale, we do not buy or sell anything, and we do not prepare, inspect or deliver food. The agreement for each order is between the two students — the seller and the buyer.
Payment is between you and the other student
Kedai Ku handles no money. You pay the seller directly, by whatever method the two of you agree — cash at the drop-off point, Touch ’n Go, or a bank transfer. Choosing and carrying out that method is entirely between you; the app takes no part in it and keeps no record of which method you used. It records what is owed and what has been paid so the two of you can keep track, but it does not collect, hold or transfer any payment.
Only the seller can mark an order paid — or the admin, correcting the record — and they may do that before you collect: paying in advance is normal here. If the two of you disagree, either of you can mark the order disputed: it still counts as owed, and an admin looks at it. The admin can correct the record, and every correction they make is logged — but the admin is not a debt collector and is not responsible for the money.
If you buy
Order in good faith, collect on time at the drop-off point, and pay what you agreed. Not paying for food another student bought or made for you is the single thing this platform exists to discourage, and repeated non-payment can get your account suspended. What you still owe is counted per seller: the seller you owe can see it, no other seller can, and there is no campus-wide score.
If you sell
Describe what you are selling honestly, charge the price you posted, and provide what you offered. You are responsible for the food you make, buy or carry — including its safety, its handling, and following any university and Malaysian rules that apply to preparing and selling food. Kedai Ku does not check any of this.
Photos of the food
A seller may add one photograph to a batch. Nobody else can add one: there are no customer uploads and no profile pictures. By adding a photograph you are saying it is yours to post and that it shows the food you are offering. It stays yours — you are giving us permission to store it and show it beside your batch, and we make no other use of it. Because of how it is stored, treat it as public — see below.
Food only — no people, and no pictures of the inside of anyone’s room. A plate of nasi lemak is not personal; a face or a hostel room is. Nothing in the app can inspect a picture, so this rule is the enforcement: an account that posts them can be suspended.
Take a photograph off a batch and the file is deleted — unless a batch you have already posted still shows it, because a batch keeps the picture it went out with. If an account is suspended, every photograph it has posted is deleted, and reinstating the account does not bring them back. One thing we cannot promise: each photograph sits at a web address that opens for anyone holding the exact link, and once a copy is in someone’s browser or a cache we do not control, deleting ours does not reach it. Do not post a picture you would mind a stranger keeping.
What is not allowed
- Nothing illegal. Do not use Kedai Ku to offer anything illegal under Malaysian law or against university rules, including alcohol, drugs, or other prohibited goods.
- No harassment, no fake accounts. Do not harass other users, and do not create fake or duplicate accounts.
- No misuse of contact details. Do not misuse the contact details you can see about someone you have traded with. Those details are given to you so you can complete an order, and for nothing else.
Food safety
Kedai Ku does not prepare, package, inspect, or guarantee any food sold through it, and cannot vouch for how any item was made or handled. Any food you buy, you buy at your own risk, from the student who made or fetched it. Raise allergies and ingredients with the seller directly before you order.
Accounts and suspension
An account needs a university address — one ending in aiu.edu.my: @student.aiu.edu.my for students, @aiu.edu.my or @pt.aiu.edu.my for staff. The database checks it as the account is created, not the sign-up screen, so it cannot be talked out of from a browser. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
The admin may suspend an account that breaks these terms or harms other students, and has to record a reason for it. A suspended account can still sign in and read, but cannot order or post a batch; a suspended seller’s batches leave the app and their photographs are deleted.
Order history is never deleted. If you leave the university, or ask us to close your account, the orders you placed or filled stay in the record — what was ordered, from whom, when, and whether it was paid. An order is the other student’s record as much as yours, which is why neither of you can erase it. See the Privacy notice.
No warranty, and the limits of our responsibility
Kedai Ku is free, built by students, and provided “as is”, with no guarantee that it will always be available or error-free. Because we are not a party to any sale and handle no money or food, we are not responsible for disputes between students, for unpaid orders, or for the quality or safety of anything bought or sold. Nothing here is meant to exclude any right you have that cannot be excluded under Malaysian law.
Changes
We may update these terms; we will change the date at the top when we do, and continued use means you accept the update.
Governing law and contact
